as of now I am merely plodding

After two months of sickness and time away from the erg I have made the decision to step away from any thoughts of competing in either the Irish, British, European or World champs and I will be simply training on the basis of what I feel like to keep me happy. With that in mind I rowed a 30r20 this morning on 70% HRR (although I really pushed the limits on that) after a night when I was woken at 2am and 4:30am getting that done seemed like an accomplishment, at the same time as the pace dropped it really felt mentally tough to keep it going.

Two thirties and some minutes

So into work this morning and set up a 60 minute row - was trying to push on from yesterday's 1:49.1 ave and aimed at 1:48.0 but due to the time running low (to finish would mean getting to my desk after 9 - by about 10 minutes) and a thing or two on my mind I stopped just after 30 minutes and set up 2by1min and carved that up

At lunch time I wanted to revisit when I last felt good on the erg - which was the 21st of October (Here) that day I rowed a 30r20 70% HRR and averaged 1:48.4 and then 3by1min ave 1:24.0 (1:24.7 r34, 1:24.2 r36 and 1:22.8 r38) the aim was to repeat the session - the numbers show the story on the 30r20 and on the 3by1 min although I was a little faster on the first and a little slower on the second the 3rd was quite far off.

Oh well - onwards and upwards - again - other numbers to note are weight increase to 111kg (from 108kg) and resting HR this morning was 139 (was 133) so I may adjust my HRR zones if for no other reason than to make me feel a little better

60r20 OCD fail

Just want to push myself at moment - target sub 1:50 pace and got to 10 minutes at 1:49.1 so tried to stick with it

Right - let's start again 30r20 plus 2

Wanted to crank out a 30r20 with a bit of aggression in it - puffing way more than I should for the pace but that's where I am. Then on to do two by 1 min on 1 min rest. Lots of puffing again but actually enjoyed it.

pi$$ed off (don't read this blog if offended by bad language)

finding myself getting extremely frustrated at the moment to the point of rage - almost - was in before work to do a 30 r20 70% HRR and after about ten minutes a guy changed the aircon from 17 to 20 - I asked him (while still rowing) to put it back (nicely - too nicely) and he said he was cold so I said turn it off then if he wanted - he left it at 20 - I went from pulling 1:50 splits to 1:58 and just got too pissed off to continue.

Lunchtime I wanted something more aggressive so set of on a r24 TT 30 min piece - coughing fit after 3 min - I recovered and got passed 5 min before I just could not be arsed basically - tried a couple of other things and gave up - getting severely pissed off with being ill twice in the last two months and losing so much fucking time!

oops lost a couple of meters - 30r20 70% HRR plus 2by1min

So lunchtime came round and set of on the 30r20 70% HRR - hoping I'd get a few more meters than the last two - I didn't - I lost some - lol ow well. Then on to the 2by1min of which the first felt absolutely horrible - luckily the second wasn't as bad - onwards and upwards

30r20 HRR 70% - bit more there this morning

After returning yesterday with a 30r20 HRR 70% ave 1:52.1 I was in with just enough time this morning to repeat the session and happy to report I scooped another 27m on it. Slowly slowly catchy monkey.
