Got back in at lunchtime for a 30r20 70% HRR - was feeling good at the start but got a little tired towards the end - still another 8k plus row so meters in the bank. On the way in I was talking to the manager and one of the instructors about getting a skierg - not keen - also mentioned starting up indoor rowing group akin to the spin classes - not keen - lol - but they did pop out towards the end of my session to clean the erg I don't use (as the drag only goes to 120 - well it did - it's clean now so hopefully be a lot better - shall find out tomorrow).
8,008m 1:52.3 r20 Ave HR 141 Max 148 (thinking about racing again lol)

Indoor Rowing on the Concept2 target was sub6 on the 2k as a 40 year old - now 50 and just getting some ducks in a row lets see where we can go. Previous Overall World Record holder in the 100km 6H12m39.2s ave 1:51.7 and Irish National Record holder in 30's 40's and 50's groups. Age group European & Irish 2k Champion and British Open 2k Champion

new beginnings - 30r20 70% HRR - energie gym
So looking at joining Energie Gym which is just round the corner from my office and basically the only realistic way i can possibly get to a erg during lunch - which is when I do the bulk of my training - went down today to test it out. Two ergs - one had a drag of 197 and broken foot strap :o( the other had a max drag of 118 :o( so I used that one and did 30r20 (ish) at 70% HRR - went OK - although I'm looking forward to me knee stop hurting - guess that's going to be a while after the running marathon Saturday .. oops. I was quite surprised that during my 30 minutes - 3 separate people came over to use the erg that was spare - although they couldn't as the foot strap was knackered - then I looked at the monitor after to check what people where doing ... seems likely they are used for warm ups of 5 minutes :o(

30r20 70% HRR
Thanks to all those who have passed on such great messages to me - means a lot.
Back to 30r20 70% HRR this morning - body a bit old but that's what happens with age I guess lol
As for the Irish 2k Open I'm still intrigued as to how I went from 4th to 3rd - so taking into account last year’s results – below – and what I have been told about the finish – I’m thinking that Philip Doyle basically collapsed just before the line and dropped from 1st to 4th – dying to see the split data to confirm – just goes to show if you dig in and keep going through the line you can get a reward - I think he was trying to break sub 6 and the overall Irish record so fair play to him.

some meters - 30r20 70% HRR
Just wanted a plod this morning so that's what I did - netflix went down after two minutes :o(
the new concept2 logbook is up and running - some bits I like some bits I'm going to miss - used to be good to see the comments on the log so I could quickly distinguish between heart rate capped pieces and there bands as well as rate capped

Struggling ....
Yesterday having not rowed since Friday morning I was in with enough time for a 30 min pre work session but after about 3 minutes I stopped - it just didn't feel right on my back - I'd struggled with discomfort since Friday and it slowly got worse to the point my legs where giving me odd sensations which is worrying as it means the disc is affecting the nerve(s) I took the lunchtime session of from rowing and did this new exercise I'd heard or "running" but boring so then I did a few weights and stretches.
This morning I cam in and basically sat on the erg with the premise that if I got one inkling of anything wrong I would get off - 30r20 70% HRR done and felt ok'ish
So lunchtime came and i decided to get one of my "tougher" sessions done - again on the premise that if I thought for one second it was causing me a issue I would get off. 2k warm up done and I picked last weeks finishing split (1:36.0) and aimed at 1:35.9 for the first rep and negative split - I did increase the pace to r28 which is still very controlled but should be easier on the back. All went well although slightly annoyed that the last rep wasn't sub 1:30 - i achieved 1:33.9 r28 and then the monitor went back and the session wasn't saved on it nor the ergdata - luckily I had taken photos at the end of each rep and stuck them together lol

Need to keep it "real" 30r20 70% HRR
Fallen into the trap of going to hard too soon this week - started a few sessions without real prep and although I was backed off on the pace to something I believe I can manage I found myself handling down multiple times including, 4by750, two 2k's, 8 by 500 - so decided to reel it in and finish the week strong so went after the 30r20 70% HRR hard from the start this morning and it paid off - phew

2 by 30r20 70% HRR - base build
Some 30 minutes stuff today - tried a hard session yesterday lunch .. well three different sessions - lets not mention them... today's first 30 minutes started as a 60 minute but as the HR was rising and the pace was dropping and the back was aching I decided to call it a day
Lunchtime Row
