Race warm up at lunch - 40r20 after work

Had a bit of a accident yesterday afternoon and fell on my back - not a high fall and didn't hurt - but later on and today I "felt it" so at lunchtime I just went through the race warm up - felt ok and so after work with a opportunity to row I went through a 40r20 - still no HR at moment so just went for split - what a mess!

trial 2k start and finish

Plan was "set the monitor to 2000m, row the first 750m looking for closer to 1:31 average through the first 500m (but you will achieve much of this by the first 150m fast, then 1:32), then 250m at 1:34/5.... paddle down from 1250m to 300m to go, 50m at 1:34/5, then blast the last 250m sub 1:25." I possibly went off to hard - basically counted 15 strokes and then dropped back to 1:34 with 1:35 now and then but saw some 1:36's in there - I find it awkward backing off this far and struggled to get the rhythm and was pretty glad to see 750 gone to regroup - at this point I thought the target of 1:25 for the last 250 was going to be a bit tough - started winding down to it 300m from home then counted 25 strokes at 250 to go - the odd glimpse at the monitor - the stroke was (I think) quite good technique wise and strong through the legs.

BIRC Bound - race warm up

Well up early to catch the flight to East Midlands - sourced a concept2 in a hotel across the road as I had a couple of hours to kill before the lovely Jen and Ian picked me up.

Into the gym and asked to have a quick look at the rower before I paid my fiver - drag was showing at 97! on level 10 - mentioned it could do with a quick hoover and offered to do it - he said he needed to get a screwdriver from maintenance but they where busy - so I went off to get changed anyway with the thoughts of doing the race warm up on 97!

Got into the gym and bless him he had the cover off and was cleaning it out - what a gent! Drag then shot up to 180 on level 10 - more than I needed - the chain was a bit clunky but not major major bad so I cracked on with my 5k race warm up.  Legs a bit tired - but the throat seems a little better.

Into the hotel bar for scoff - rice of course! (It's a Bristol thing)

Race warm up - race starts - is there a race on?

Just had the race warm up in the diary to do today – but wanted to add some race start practise as I was slow of the line in Bristol - so after the 5k I tried to set them up on the PM4 – discovered that having ergdata connected fouled the race settings so unplugged that and just had the monitor – plan was full strong strokes and get the fan spinning then settle on 1:32 pace – felt good … tooo good. Set the first for 2 minutes with the plan to “race” the first 40sec and then a 2k with the same plan (but didn’t set up the splits – d’oh)

This time tomorrow the 2k will have been done :gulp: time to embrace the pain – doesn’t matter what the clock shows at the end if you’ve raced a 2k TT to your full ability we are all going to be sharing the same pain
