Why I row to HR - 30r20 75% HRR
Perfect example of why I use HR to govern the bulk of my ergs - although it would be obvious that I would be tired today both mentally (due to lack of sleep) and physically (yesterdays 4by750 following on from Mondays 12by1min) it would be hard to work out how much to drop pace on one of my core sessions without the HR - Monday and Tuesday saw this session at 1:47.5 pace (8,369m both days) where as today we ended with 1:49.1 (8,248m) a drop of 121m - this isn't a drop in form this is showing that the body is fatigued and as such this lunchtime will see a "easier" session than I would if I hit a better pace. Still good training and certainly got a sweat on.

Well if you're going play with fire - 4by750 3r
You're gonna get burnt! and by god did my legs feel on fire during that !!
I had already picked the 4by750m for lunchtime today after yesterday's lunch session so even though I only had about 4 hours broken sleep last night I decided to stick with the "spend time in the zone of pain" plan - I am not sure of my sanity anymore - down early as very very tired sat at my desk and went through the warm up - the start of which was a haze to be honest but then set the session and got myself set - figured I'd target my age group PB of 1:30.5 total 9:03.3 set 16th September (2014 - again I question my sanity on this) and rate 30 it (see "sanity") to be fair the first rep was pretty OK (1:30.4) but knew that it tended to be the second rep which bit - and it did - still managed to get r30 and 1:30.2 split so all going well - third rep and before I started I knew that the legs were in trouble as i had a little walk in the gym (which is good in a way as it's normally the breathing - which means the training adaptions would hit the legs today) so planned on increasing the rate to 32 and basically held on for survival lol - reminding myself towards the end that the pain my legs where in was nothing in comparison to what I felt pre back operation. OK last rep - this is where the majority of the benefit comes - get it done no matter what! So what happens - the bloody monitor froze on 3 seconds remaining in the rest - I sat and starred - it didn't move - I starred for another second - still on 3 - feck it I better haul anchor as no doubt it will just flip to 0 - no it didn't - so as I was returning on my stroke it counted to zero which put my average down from the start - brilliant! Sod it stick to 1:32 and grind it out - this is training and not a race/TT so it's the benefit I need not the time - managed to hold on - legs in bits at the end - all good training lol

Snap - 30r20 75% HRR
Yesterday I rowed a 30r20 75% HRR in the morning before work - 8,369m - (Ave HR 146 Max HR 157) this morning I rowed a 30r20 75% HRR in the morning before work - 8,369m - (Ave HR 148 Max HR 157) - OK I'm probably finding this funnier than normal as our daughter has a bit of a cough and had me up at 2am, 4am and 5am (up for work just before 6am) if I had tried to hit the same meters there's no way I would have lol

I also enjoyed that - 12by 1min 1min r
If I am to compete at the Irish in January I need to get used to not being able to breath very well - or technically make some race paced adaptions to allow my body to become accustomed to the carbon poisoning and lactic burn - and feels as pleasant as it sounds - burning poisoning .... So to start the ball rolling this lunchtime I picked the 12 by 1 min on 1 min off session - idea being to pick a pace I hope to target at the Irish all going well - 1:32 and r30 as an introduction until I build the bodies resilience - wasn't expecting the session to destroy me and if I'm honest I could of gone a little harder maybe - but I need to build not fall over at the moment.
Quite enjoyed that - 30r20 75% HRR
After the weekend off yet again (with the Mrs working Sat and Sun it's not easy to get any time to erg) so often I come in Monday morning feeling deflated in terms of training and expect a massive drop in performance - but today seemed to go pretty darn well - lots of sweat and a good few meters

Tired so just some 100m's
Kids xmas party in work shortly so in early and at desk for 7:30 so I could grab a half hour on the erg at lunch - initially was going to do 30r20 70% but had no energy mentally as not great amount of sleep this week - been waking at 4am. So after a few minutes I stopped and thought I'd chuck some 100m's in - no structure other than trying to see what works for me - think I'm struggling on the start as only hitting 1:45 first stroke - able to hold 1:12 easily enough after third or fourth - not too bad but think I can get faster if I sort that first stroke out
On four of the 100's I had 14.7 showing only to be rounded up to 14.8! lol
