50r20 70% HRR - 6by1min on 1min off - no PB just pain

Woke up this morning battered - lol - legs not letting me forget the two 2k's and 1k from earlier in the week and the upper body is also sore. Managed to get 50r20 done before work but slower than yesterdays effort by 60m - body telling me it's tired - I knew the planned 6by1min at lunch could be a bit messy - and it was.

At 11:30 am I reported in - "corr my legs feel like I'm in the 4th rep of the 6by1min - and I'm just sat at my desk lol"

So down and changed on to the erg - tiredness more than anything and soreness in the legs was going to be the trouble. Warm up done I set off targeting PB (1:25.1 - 252m) and although I made it on the first two reps it was then a case of getting through each minute as best as I could. Feels better to have finished .... although my legs might not agree - i'll be using the lift for the day then - lot of steps to go up one floor in work ....

6by1min

Well I got a 5k warm up in and then 6 by 1min 1r - was aiming at doing ten but due to eating fish and chips about an hour before I was in danger of making a mess lol - still got something done

2x6x1 [1r] [5r] welcome to lactic hell

I feel very ill now - I felt very  very ill during the 2x6x1 [1r] [5r] - I got into work with a sore throat - this I'm not sure if this is from the all out 2x2 [10] 14 hours ago or if i have picked up the office bug - still got through the session by the skin of my teeth in the first set - second set was a case of pacing it to finish

tiredness was an issue (5 hours kip at most) found it hard to get rate up which kicked in lactic earlier - rep 5 on first set nearly ended in a HD - as did rep 1 on second set

Six shot – **** 6by1min 1r PB ****

Before I went down to do this I intended on aiming at the Q-Power team best score of 1:25.1 – knowing that meant that this was going to take me into a world of pain and got me thinking about the old six shot revolver – looking up “Six Shooter” before I went down I saw this (be warned – graphic violence)

scroll to 21:25and I had a feeling that this was going to be my legs come the 5th and 6th “shot” … I was right

 

So why go chasing a target almost a second quicker than my PB for the session (1:26.0) – well two reasons – this week is about inflicting pain on myself and forcing the body to deal with it – secondly after I set that PB (1:26.0) I rested for 8 minutes and went again – surely that meant I had more in me – thirdly I like pain (yes I know I said two reasons! lol )

 

Warm up done I set about the first rep – it’s funny how in a warm up 300m at 1:30 feels like it’s the fastest you can do – then you find yourself sitting on 1:24 with ease – so I did – and again on the second rep - I wanted to make sure I had to deal with pain come the final splits – my plan worked – by the third set the legs where grumbling – fourth set a little whimper – fifth set all out revolt and by the end of the sixth they got up and walked out on me – leaving me fall through the line at 1:33 split – but row through the line I did and this meant I piped Jordan by 1m with 2114m’s and then a collapse on the floor and a struggle to the changing room.

 

Tomorrow is a enforced day off as I have a wedding to attend – funnily enough the venue is where I started up rowing three years ago – so may try and sneak a session on the Sat morning before we check out :lol:
