24 Million lifetime meters - 60r18 70% HRR and 2by1min 1r

So tonight I crossed the 24 million meters mark and all I got was this lousy certificate lol - I'm joking - I love my C2 certs :) but looking forward to 25 million and the "additional prizes" :o) so the row was a simple 60r18 70% HRR but I knew from sitting on the erg that the HR was reading a little high and true to form the overall meters dipped on recent rows of the same ilk (1:52.1 ave last time vs 1:53.0 today) could be one of a few factors, nothing major but good to have the HR figures there to keep it in check. Didn't really look forward to the 2by1min - it's late, dark, cold and damp - but go them done and now to rest and recover.

15,929m 1:53.0 Ave HR 142 Max HR 150 (got to stop thinking about 2k's during these rows) TE 2.6

60 r20 80% HRR - 2by1min

With a few missed days last week I had the capacity to push it a tad today and with that in mind I went after a 60r20 on 80% HRR - all went well apart from the Netflix episode stopping about fifteen minutes before the end of the row but good old long arms sorted that in two strokes :o) then 2 by 1min target 1:27 pace. Job done.

60r18 75% HRR - plus 2by1min 1r

Another day where I could happily have stayed indoors and watched TV ... well I would have been happy for a few minutes until I got restless lol so out to the shed at the bottom of the garden in my shorts and vest with headphones and phone to watch netflix (tonight was headhunters episode 2) 60 minutes set up and off I went - forgot how "tough" these easy sessions are once the heart and lungs are getting up to speed - nothing easy about rating 18 sub 1:50 pace for a hour lol still it's also pleasing to see the pace develop and not quite sub 1:50 yet but happily sub 1:51 with 16,224m 1:50.9 HR ave 150 TE 3.6 Max HR was 157 (target 153) and that was because I started thinking about hammering the two by 1 min - Jeff I blame you for that :o)

50r18 70% HRR plus 2by1min 1r

Simple session tonight watching Netflix - Star Trek: Discovery - 50 minutes rating 18 with 70% HRR cap (146) then two by 1 minute with 1 minute rest target 1:27.

13,550m 1:52.3 Ave HR 142 Max HR 149 - target 146 TE 2.5

The start of this felt like the good old days of knocking out sub 1:50 splits on the HR rows :)

Old ticker responding nicely -70% HRR 2by25m r18 1:30r plus 2by1min 1r

Quite a nice feeling when you sit on the erg to start a session and connect the HR to the monitor and have the old ticker ticking away at 40bpm :) simple session today and although the resting HR is a good sign there is still work to do as the HR is straining a little more than I'd like during the rows hence the drop of in pace.

60r18 75% HRR + 2 by 1min 1r 2k -3

Managed to get out fr a late afternoon session today, and although ideally this would be the 30r20 death by rowing session I decided to put that back tomorrow as it took me until Sunday to get the 4by2k done. So that gave me the 60r18 at 75% HRR then 2by1min with 1r at 2k -3 - well K so y 2k isn't 5:59.9 quite yet but we all have our dreams so I placed my 2k at 6 and aimed for 1:27 pace on the 1 minutes.

60 minutes started great but as the untrained heart and lungs struggled towards the end it did become a bit of a slog.. a sweaty one at that

Then onto the 2 by 1 min with 1 min rest - funnily I found the first one tougher than the second - rated a little hi for my liking but job done.

trudging through the darkness - 40r18 plus 2by1min 1r

So lunchtime was 40r18 70% HRR and boy was it slow - 1:58.5 - still it's from the dark and lonely struggles come the glory - topped of with 2  by 1 min on 1 rest (enjoyed that) 1:29.8 r32 and 1:29.0 r32 - with full 1.6m strokes ;o)

Party meters - 30r20 70% HRR - and a couple of party poppers

So after Saturdays 15 by 1min on 1min off CTC r28 one - well two things became very clear to me in terms of my current rowing

1) My endurance is not very good at all in comparison to where I was
2) My ability to deal with a high rate while maintaining the power/length in the stroke is also poor

So with that in mind need to increase my endurance - so plenty of r20 meters required - I'm calling these my "Party meters" because when I do need to drop into a TT or race these are the ones that will allow me to enjoy the party :o) and also I'm going to drop in some one minute power blasts to keep the mind and body in check with the higher rate - they are the Party Poppers lol

So - 30r20 70% HRR and 2by1min 1r this morning before work

Best thing about the 30 minutes - I was watching netflix so ergdata was unplugged but still managed bang on 600 strokes :o)

Row like a freak - 3by 1min r20 - 30r18 75% HRR - 2by1min

Almost didn't train today - feeling battered this week by "life" but decided just go down and crack on seeing what others are getting through at the moment and still training is very motivating on these down days – also saw James Howard mention that anyone who could go sub 2k pace on a 1min r20 was a freak – so swapped out today’s session with net Thursday :o) couldn’t face 50r18 neither did I have time if I added on the 2by1min at the end.

1min r20 325m 1:32.3
1min r20 331m 1:30.6
1min r20 333m 1:30.0

30min r18 75% HRR – nearly stopped after about ten minutes as I just wasn’t into it - 30min r18 8214m 1:49.5

2by1min 1r
1min r30 (30 strokes on ergdata) 353m 1:24.9
1min r30 355m 1:24.5
